This is the governing body for certification in Disciplined Agile.

Being a Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Master (DALSM) indicates that you:

  • Are an experienced leader in agile solution delivery
  • Have the potential to lead your team in improving their way of working (WoW)
  • Are on your way to becoming a generalizing specialist
  • Have the potential to be a “junior coach” under the guidance of a senior coach (someone who is likely a Certified Disciplined Agile Coach)

How to Become a Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Master (DALSM)

Step 1:

Earn your
CDA or CDAP designation after 31 December 2019

Step 2:

Gain 2 years of agile team experience in a lead role (PO, TL/SM, AO)

Step 3:

Submit your application form and pass your reference checks


I earned my CDA or CDAP (or was in progressbefore 01 January 2020, what are my next steps?

Step 1:

Attend a Foundations of Lean class

from a
Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor  

- AND -

pass the certification test

Step 2:

Gain 2 years of agile team experience in a lead role (PO, TL/SM, AO) 

Step 3:

Submit your application form and pass your reference checks


Step #1: Fulfill the Requirements

Before you apply for this designation, you must ensure that you are qualified to apply to become a DALSM by passing the correct certification test and gaining the required experience.


Nice to haves (but not required):

  • Active involvement on the Disciplined Agile discussion on LinkedIn  (you should have at least posted a few comments, a link to a relevant article, or started a discussion thread)
  • Active participation on
  • Publication regarding DA implementation/technique
  • Public presentation focused on application of the DA toolkit
  • Minimum of 14 hours of Certified Disciplined Agile courses -or- an Advanced Disciplined Agile workshop (DA210, DA301)

Step #3: Send Us Your References

DA Admin will receive notification you have passed your test.  Within 5 business days you will received a reference application* to fill out and return. When your 2 references are received and reviewed, your membership will be upgraded to Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner (CDAP). * If you have earned your PMI-ACP, references are not required, you just need to return the application form with your PMI Membership ID and date certification was earned.

If you haven't already done so, please update your membership profile to indicate your agile experience, references, and any other pertinent information.  Your profile information will be validated by us within a few days to determine whether you meet the criteria for Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner.  Good luck!

We encourage you to stay up-to-date with Disciplined Agile by:



  • $50 USD annual renewal fee

  • 7 hours of professional development (minimum 5 DA hours) required each year, such as workshops or webinars
