How to Pass the Disciplined Agile Certification Tests

Preparing for a Certification Test

Each test involves randomly selected, multiple choice questions.  To prepare for the Disciplined Agile Certification test, we've seen people be successful by following at least one of the following strategies: 

  1. Take one or more workshops and read the Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) book in its entirety.
  2. Just read the DAD book in its entirety.
  3. Have several years of agile experience and take one or more workshops.

Both tests are comprehensive.  To be very prepared for a certification test, we suggest that you study the following topics:

How Test Questions are Marked

There are two strategies for awarding points based on the type of question:

  1. True-false questions.  You get one point for a correct answer, zero for the incorrect answer.
  2. Multiple-answer questions. There are several correct choices for this question.   You are awarded one point for each correct answer but one point is deducted for each incorrect answer.

The Certified Disciplined Agilist (CDA) Test

The Certified Disciplined Agilist test is a closed book exam with 25 questions.

The test has a 40-minute time limit. Once started, you WON'T be able to pause the test. We recommend a reliable internet connection, not a public location. 

You must achieve 70% to pass the test.

The following question was copied directly from the current version of the Certified Disciplined Agilist test.  This question is of medium complexity for this test and is representative of what you will see on the test.

The Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner (CDAP) Test

The Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner test is a closed book exam with 50 questions.

The test has a 60 minute time limit.

Once started, you WON'T be able to pause the test. We recommend a reliable internet connection, not a public location. 

You must achieve 70% to pass the test.

  • The Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner test is considerably more challenging than the Certified Disciplined Agilist test.
  • Candidates are expected to be very familiar with the book Disciplined Agile Delivery by Scott Ambler & Mark Lines.
  • Candidates must also have at least two years experience on agile teams.
